Holy Cross Abbey was founded at Stapehill in Dorset in 1802 by a small group of Cistercian refugees fleeing the French Revolution. In January 1991 the Community moved to its present home at Whitland in Wales, just across the valley from the old Whitland Abbey founded by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux in 1151. In 2002 the Community celebrated its bicentenary.

We have a thriving altar bread industry, a developing market garden and are working with Forestry Commission Wales to extend our existing woodland. We have a small guest house and offer accommodation for those wishing to have a quiet day, and also for those who wish to stay longer. Retreatants. guests and visitors are welcome to join us for Mass and the Divine Office.
